Thanksgiving in Michigan
We had a little bit longer trip back to Michigan this year for Thanksgiving. The main reason was to spend a little extra time with my parents since my Dad just had surgery to remove the cancer found in his prostate. Chad and I were also looking forward to having a little break from the kids, which we did. Jasper was off playing with his cousins almost the whole time we were there. We had Thanksgiving in Ann Arbor at my sister Lichee's house and my other sister Helen and her family drove in from Philadelphia. Lichee's kids Hunter--who over the last year has grown into a young adult, voice change and everything! and Emma who grew a lot in the last year also were just wonderful with both Jasper and Jayna. Helen's kids Clayton, Evan and Max had also all grown and it was fun to watch them all play Hunter's Wii.
Chad and I went out on a date which was very nice. We knew that the fiddler Jeremy Kittel is from Saline a neighboring town of Ann Arbor so we looked up his schedule to see if he was going to be playing around Thanksgiving time and sure enough he was. He played for a show called Jeff Daniels and friends and we were excited to see him, even though there would be several other acts. Surprisingly, he was not our favorite act we really loved Daisy May and Seth Bernhard and I actually teared up during one of their songs. All of the acts were Michigan artists and there was a strong Michigan theme throughout the whole show. When we left I REALLY wanted to move back to Michigan and be a Michigander again. REALLY the show was that moving!
But...now that we're back I'm not feeling that pull so much. It's really COLD in Michigan and it's not so cold here. We were really happy to get back.
